AU: A week together is what they wanted, and a week together is what they got. Having been friends since Ephraim was in college, Chuck having been his TA, the two go away together. Eph’s family owns a cabin outside of the city. The two reconnect in a lot of different ways, learning where one another has come and gone since Eph graduated. It’s nice to be able to talk this, the way they used to. It’s better knowing they don’t have to come up with stupid excuses just to talk to one another (like Eph calling him in the middle of the night to see if he’s following the guidelines for an assignment right, please).

Eph learns that Chuck as an affinity for cooking, and also likes to get high (mostly at night, it helps him sleep, and it doesn’t bother Eph in the least). Chuck learns about Ephraim’s insecurities, and his fears for his future - mostly how his family seems to take the reigns on what he’ll do with his life. The two are both terrified that this week away together will cause them to drift apart in some manner, tear holes in what they’ve become to one another. All it does is bring them closer. When the week comes to an end, both of them ready to return to reality…

They decide to return together.
